Workshop on “Being Happy” by Ramneek Wig
Today stress seems to be a major problem all across the globe. People from all age groups are suffering from this so-called malady. Right from childhood till the time you leave this planet earth, stress seems to manifest in some form or the other.
Two individuals could tackle the same problem in altogether different ways. A negative person would come under the pressure of the situation and say, “Why me? Why me? Why has God done this to me? What wrong have I done? I shouldn’t have been treated like this. I can’t handle this anymore.”
On the other hand, a positive person would take up every problem as a new challenge. He would say, “I’m not the first one faced with such a problem. If anyone else could get out of this mess, so can I. And if no one else could—I will be the first one to get out of it.” He would face life boldly, and accept his present situation.
Mostly we seem to be cribbing about our problems and misfortunes rather than boldly accepting them. It is important for you to make the best of what you have, rather than to crib for what you don’t. No matter what the circumstances are, you can be happy where you stand. All you have to do is to change your attitude towards life. It is your attitude, which makes the “big difference.”

It starts from having a positive attitude, being enthusiastic, setting a goal, creating your own happiness, valuing your blessings , being content, surrendering to God, taking time out for yourself, being detached, and most of all believing in yourself—all of them are great stress busters and a powerful mental tonic.
Next, the workshop highlights the importance of positive affirmations, and how they can be most frequently used in our everyday life. Positive affirmations are very effective in managing stress and promote overall well-being. They give you the strength to face life with much courage, and thus emerge as a winner.
Mr. Wig takes you through the technique of visualization, and illustrates how it could be most effectively used in order to live happily. You tend to receive what you believe; visualization is a powerful technique for conquering stress and creating your own happiness.
The workshop further explains breathing techniques also known as pranayama. The word prana stands for the vital energy, which is present within each one of us. In gross terms, it can be much easily understood as the breath. Ayama stands for regulation, to stretch or to extend.
The first thing what a person does when he is born is that he breathes-in. The last thing what he does, is to breathe-out. His entire life revolves between breathing in and breathing out. Pranayama is a technique, which helps in regulation, control or direction of the breath.
Pranayama is the fourth limb of yoga, and is called as the heart of yoga. It helps a lot in bringing down the stress level, and reduces tension and anxiety to a great extent. Pranayama bestows good health, and is very effective in treating various diseases such as heart ailments, high blood pressure, asthma, chest congestion, acidity, constipation, diabetes, depression, psychosomatic disorders and obesity. Pranayama also helps in removing toxins and completely rejuvenates the body.
Different pranayamas are taught according to the specific needs of the participants. Some of the pranayamas, which are covered in the workshop, are as follows: Kapalabhati, Anuloma-Viloma, Nadi Shodhan pranayama, Full Yogic Breath, Bhastrika pranayama, Ujjayi pranayama, Antara pranayama, Bahya pranayama and Hasya pranayama.
After the pranayama session, you will be taken through an experiential journey of meditation to discover your Inner-Self. Meditation is a perfect stress buster, and a great mental tonic. It relieves stress and provides immense spiritual strength.
Last but not the least, there is a session on relaxation, where you will be taught the technique of auto-suggestion—relaxing each and every part of the body starting from the toes, moving upwards to the head. This refreshing experience of relaxation brings about peace of mind, and is a great rejuvenator.
To sum it all, this workshop on “Being Happy” would definitely help you in relieving stress, tension and anxiety; thus you would be able to appreciate life, and enjoy each day to the fullest.
Wishing you all the best for a life full of joy and peace!
